The security forces have killed eight terrorists in two separate operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday.

The military’s media wing reported that the operations took place between January 12 and 13. The first operation was an intelligence-based raid in Tank district where security forces successfully targeted a location of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group, commonly referred to as khwarij.

During the operation, six terrorists were killed, according to the ISPR.

In another engagement in Khyber district’s Tirah Valley, security forces neutralized two more terrorists associated with the TTP.

The ISPR added that clearance operations are underway in the region to clear any remaining militants. The security forces have vowed to continue their efforts to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in the country.

Earlier, security forces killed 27 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kacchi district of Balochistan and destroyed a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.

ISPR, the military’s media wing, said the IBO was conducted on Sunday due to the reported presence of terrorists in the area. “Own troops effectively surrounded and engaged the terrorists’ location and after an intense exchange of fire, 27 terrorists were sent to hell.”

According to the ISPR, several caches, including caches of arms, ammunition and explosives, were destroyed. “The slain terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians and were highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies,” it added.

“Security forces in Pakistan, in tandem with the nation, remain determined to counter attempts to sabotage peace, stability and progress in Balochistan.”

President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the security forces for eliminating terrorists during the Kacchi operation. They lauded the bravery of the troops for defeating the dastardly designs of the terrorists in Balochistan.

Zardari said in a statement that Pakistan’s brave armed forces were carrying out operations for the complete eradication of terrorism. “The elimination of terrorists during operations is a great success for security forces,” he said.

In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz appreciated the officers and personnel of the security forces for the successful operation against terrorists. He praised the professional capabilities of officers and personnel of security forces for killing 27 terrorists during operations.
