A day after asking his supporters at X if a new American political party should be set up, Elon Musk said on Saturday that “America Party is formed.”
“With a factor of 2 to 1 you want a new political party and you need it!” He said in a post on X.
“Today is America Party formed to give you back your freedom.”
Musk announcement comes after President Donald Trump signed a fiscal and spent a bill on Friday, as the billionaire’s CEO of Tesla violently opposed Tesla.
Musk spent hundreds of millions on Trump’s re-election and led the Department of Government Efficiency during the Trump administration with the aim of cutting back on government spending, but the two have since fallen beyond disagreements on the bill.
Trump threatened earlier this week to cut off the billions of dollars in subsidies that Musk’s companies receive from the federal government.
Musk previously said he would start a new political party and spend money on seating legislators supporting the bill.
Republicans have expressed concern that Musk’s on-again, off-again feud with Trump could hurt their chances of protecting their majority in the 2026 mid-term congress.
