Engineering Giant Englobal has now confirmed the attackers who hit his systems in Novemeber 2024, actually compromised its internal documents.
In an updated 8-k form, the company said a preliminary investigation “revealed that a threat player illegally opened the company’s information technology system and encrypted some of its data.”
So not only was this a data song, this was also a ransomware attack.
No significant influence
“The Cyber Security Invention involved the threat actor’s access to a part of the company’s IT system that contained sensitive personal information,” the form added. “The company intends to give messages to affected and potentially affected parties and applicable regulatory bodies as required by Federal and State Act. “
Ransomware -attack hit the company pretty hard, it seems when it added that it took weeks to get back on track:
“CyberSecurity event limited the company’s ability to access parts of its business applications that supported aspects of the company’s activities and business functions, including financial and operating reporting systems for about six weeks.”
However, at the time the document was submitted, all operations have been fully restored and Englobal believes the striker no longer lurks in their network. It also said that the attack did not have a significant influence and that it is “not reasonably likely” that it will have such an impact.
“As part of its remediation effort, the company works with cybersecurity experts to strengthen its IT system, strengthen its monitoring of cyber security threats and prevent future unauthorized access to its IT system.”
Englobal is an engineering and automation business that provides solutions to various industries, including energy, chemicals and government. Based in the United States, it operates globally with about 500 employees and generates an annual income of about $ 100 million.
Attackers identity were not revealed and we still do not know how many people are affected by this incident.
