Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has confirmed his country’s unwavering support to Pakistan, who expresses satisfaction over the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
President Erdoğan, who approached a cabinet meeting, described the agreement as a positive step towards regional stability and emphasized Turkey’s full support for the Peace Initiative.
Erdoğan condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Kashmir and missile attacks on Pakistani territory and emphasized Turkish’s continued diplomatic efforts to help reduce tensions between the two South Asian neighbors.
The Turkish leader praised the Pakistani people’s resilience and patience and credited the country’s leadership for its measured and strategic response for a challenging period.
He also confirmed a recent telephone conversation with Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, where the two leaders discussed central bilateral and regional issues.
In his remarks, President Erdoğan called Pakistan to avoid provocations and to take advantage of the tranquility created by the ceasefire to tackle long -term disputes, including the water issue.
He ended with a strong message of solidarity and assured Islamabad that Turkey would, God willingly, stand by Pakistan in both good times and bad.
