WNBA All-Star Game’s high offensive output led ESPN host or Duncan to say something that many considered quite raw on live TV.
It is not uncommon to see a deficiency of defense in a basketball all-star game, whether it is WNBA or NBA. But Duncan had an interesting way to describe that side of the game at the break during ABC’s broadcast on Saturday night.
“We hope it will be a little more competitive,” Duncan started after watching Napheesa Collier’s team set up 82 sets for Caitlin Clark’s team’s 60 in the first half. “Because like a girl’s trip to Cancun, right now, there is no D.”

ESPN -Analyst Chiney Ogwumike said quickly, “Elle, you’re in timeout. You’re done.” Then the broadcast went to commercial.
After One-Liner found its way to working through social media, there were a few who didn’t like Duncan’s humor.
Michele Tafoya claims ‘jealousy’ led to Caitlin Clark’s shocking wnba -player voice: ‘It’s so stupid’
“Add this to a long list of why nobody is taking @wnba or @spn seriously,” said an X user during a video of Duncan, sent by awful advertising.

“If Shane Gillis said so, they would try to cancel him,” wrote another, referring to the comedian’s Espys monologue who turned heads over the past week.
When the second half eventually started, there was more violation than the defense once again when Collier led the way with 36 points to help her team beat Clarks, 151-131, to win the All-Star game.
Clark did not play in the game as she continues to nurture a groin injury that has fooled throughout this 2025 WNBA season. She suffered it on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun, which forced her to be sidelined to the Indiana fever during their match against New York Liberty on Wednesday.
