The Ethereum Foundation has dismissed some members of his research and development team as part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at focusing on critical protocol design challenges, the organization said in a blog post on Monday.
Shake-up comes as the Switzerland-based nonprofit fighter with continuous criticism of its leadership and strategic direction. Some in the Ethereum Society have warned for over a year that failure to address key technical obstacles could threaten Ethereum’s status as an industry leader, and the organization has already undergone management changes partially to tackle these concerns.
The fund redirects its protocol research and development department under the simplified name “Protocol” and relocates the group around three main priorities: scaling Ethereum’s basic layer, expanding Blobspace (an important part of its data availability strategy) and improving the user experience.
“The changes we advertise today are a deviation from our earlier ways of working, but we feel that these are putting us on a more responsive and effective path,” the fund said in its post.
EF did not reveal how many employees were affected by the redundancies. “[S]OME members of PR&D do not continue with the Ethereum Foundation, “the blog said,” We hope these individuals will continue in the Ethereum ecosystem and encourage others to build their teams to seek them out. ”
A spokesman for the foundation did not respond to a request for comment.
The restructured protocol team will serve as a hub for Ethereum’s core development efforts aimed at improving public visibility for upgrading time lines, technical documentation and research.
“We hope this new structure will allow our internal team to focus more clearly and drive key initiatives forward,” said Hsiao-Wei Weng, the Co-Executive Director at the EC in a post on X.
