The United Arab Emirates’ Etihad Airways has been allowed to operate additional flights to Karachi, officials confirmed on Wednesday, Express News reported.

According to sources, Etihad Airways had requested Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to increase its Karachi-abu Dhabi operations by three flights a week.

CAA has approved the request, which allows the airline to operate a total of 17 weekly flights on the route, from the current 14.

The new flights are expected to begin in October this year and expand travel opportunities for passengers between the two cities.

Etihads Karachi-abu Dhabi-Service is one of the busiest international relations for the port city serving both business and leisure travelers.

In another development made earlier this week, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has also announced the launch of direct flights from Lahore to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, which starts April 20.

According to the airline, two weekly flights will work on this route and depart from Lahore to Baku every Sunday and Wednesday.

To mark the apartment, a special event was held in Karachi for travel agencies and tour operators, where detailed information about the new Baku aircraft was shared with participants.

Pia officials stated that the new route is expected to play a significant role in increasing bilateral tourism and trading tapes. They also highlighted the role of travel agencies in success with this initiative.
