EU to launch development project for skills for Pak Labor

Islamabad:

The EU launched a program in Pakistan to educate Pakistani labor in the skills required for European markets, a senior official said, and spoke on the ‘secure migration roads for hopeful Pakistani migrants’ dialogue on Wednesday.

“There is a lack of skilled labor in the European markets. To meet the needs of the European labor market, the EU is launching a skills development program for the technical skills of the Pakistani labor,” said Philip Oliver Gross, the Deputy of the EU delegation in Pakistan.

He confirmed the EU’s obligation to structured migration partnerships with Pakistan that migration, when administered correctly, benefits from both migrants and host countries. When he recognizes the challenge of skills, he said, while Europe has a shortage of labor, most Pakistani migrants do not meet the required skill levels.

He also said that the EU’s talent partnership program aims to adapt Pakistani workforce training with European market requirements. He said the EU has awarded 20 million euros (2021-2027) in support of vocational education, migration management and reintegration programs.
