- EUFY has launched a new smart lock with a built -in camcorder
- Familyock S3 Max has an extra wide field of view to register visitors
- The lock also has palm recognition and can release the door in a second
EUFY has just launched a new smart lock with a built-in camera to detect visitors and Palme recognition that can open your door in just a second when it recognizes the unique pattern of blood vessels in your hand. EUFY FAMilock S3 Max is available now for $ 329.99 (approximately £ 260 / AU $ 530) if you are an existing eupfy customer and will go on general sales for $ 399.99 (approximately £ 320 / AU $ 640) from March 17 in online stores including HomeTepot.com and BestBuy.com.
It is significantly more than most of the best smart locks we have tested, but Familyock S3 Max effectively works as a video derh clock thanks to its wide-angle 2K camera that catches crispy footage of visitors and package deliveries.
The camera offers a 150-degree vertical head-to-toe view and a 180-degree diagonal view that beats many of the best video door on the market and covers blind spots that other devices can miss. Although the latest ring battery video clock is excellent, its field of view is only 150 x 150 degrees, which means it could miss movement that Familyock would register.
You can check out recordings from the camera on your phone via the EUFY app or use an indoor video screen (sold separately) that effectively acts as a high resolution PEEPHOL ready access to a suitable smartphone.
Practical access
Familyock offers a variety of opening options, the most interesting of which is palm recognition. This technology (also used in the Philips 5000 series Video Palm Recognition Smart Lock) uses an infrared sensor to detect the unique pattern of blood vessels in your hand and compare it to a database with up to 50 scanned palms to determine if it is A fight. In that case, the lock opens in just a second and lets you in without the hassle of space flavoring for keys.
You also don’t have to worry about power outages. The lock has a 15,000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery plus four AAA batteries as a backup that keeps it fully functioning for up to six months and offers basic features (auto-locking and pin access) for up to one year.
We have already got our hands on the EUFY Familyock S3 Max and will give you a full review of the device very soon.
