- EUFY FAMilock S3 Max has contactless access via Palm recognition
- It acts as a video derring clock with 2K recordings and AI -intruding detection
- Recordings can be stored either locally or in the cloud with a subscription
The EUFY company behind some of the best video door box we’ve tested here at Techradar-Has released a new smart lock with Palm recognition for touch-free entry. The EUFY Familyock S3 Max, which was launched today, also has an external camera that offers wide-angle 2K video, plus built-in AI to warn you as a visitor approaches your doorway or not.
EUFY was one of the first companies to launch a smart lock with Palme Recognition (the second big name was Philips with its 5000 Series Video Palm Recognition Smart Lock) and it has several advantages over fingerprint scanners, which is a more common opportunity for keyless access.
Palm recognition works by detecting the unique pattern of blood vessels in your hand and compare this to a database with authorized images. In case of Familock S3 Max, this data is stored locally to protect them from potential security breaches. This means that it can be opened without physical contact and its accuracy is not affected by skin conditions, sweat or dirt.
Palm recognition also uses more data points than a fingerprint sensor or face recognition, making it more accurate and much harder to deceive.
Who’s there?
Familyock S3 MAX also acts as a video derh clock, so no two separate devices are needed. It has a 2K camera and a 140-degree field of view both vertically and horizontally (the same as higher-end ring video dyte bells), giving you a head-to-to-to-to-to-the-to-to-to-the-to-the-to-the-door views, plus packages back right outside the door.
You will receive a warning on your phone when someone is calling and Locks software includes person detection that can tell you if someone is loating on your property.
Video recordings can be stored in the cloud with a paid for subscription or locally with a EUFY HomeBase 3 encrypted external hard drive.
We are currently testing the EUFY Familyock S3 Max to see how it compares to the best smart locks from other brands and will give you a full review very soon. It is available to buy now directly from EUFY and from Amazon for $ 399.99 (about £ 300 / AU $ 630).
