Former World Champion Curt Schilling questioned the use of pitch in the Major League Baseball when the 2025 season was underway.
Schilling performed Friday at “The Will Cain Show” on Pakinomist Channel. Filling Host Charles Hurt asked the former Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox star whether the pitch has turned out to be good or bad.

The six-time all-star shook his head.
“It’s been a bad thing, but it’s a direct result of the money,” Schilling said. “[Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher] Paul Slrenses gets nearly $ 10 million to sign in college. Team will not spend that kind of money without their guys coming to the big leagues. So they are on counts in the smaller leagues and they end up going into the big leagues with pitch, and you can’t ask guys to do things for the first time in the big leagues.
“I get a little acid backwall every time I see a jug walk out of the haug in the sixth lap and tilt his hood. But the game has changed.”
MLB leaders have routinely taken pitchers out of ball games if they start sniffing 100 seats during games, whether the player has a no-hitter or shutout intact.

One of the most famous cases of recent memory came during the World Series 2018 when Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts lighted starts Rich Hill in the seventh round under Game 4 against Boston Red Sox.
Hill lasted 6.1 laps, which allows only a deserved race and a hit. He had thrown 91 seats and Los Angeles held a 4-0 lead at the time. Dodgers’ Bullpen then imploded, and the team ultimately lost the game 9-6.
The move triggered a reaction from President Donald Trump and called Roberts’ move a “big mistake.” Hill responded by saying that the president’s focus should not have been on the game.
