Fake notification claims that Indian actor Salman Khan is placed on Pakistan’s fourth programme

A viral claim on social media claims that Pakistani authorities have issued a notice placing Bollywood actor Salman Khan under the fourth tier of the Anti-Terrorism Act after Khan allegedly spoke about Balochistan at a recent event in Saudi Arabia.

The fourth schedule is a list of persons suspected of being terrorists or of having links with terrorist groups.

The claim is false. The message is fabricated.

Assertion

On October 25, a social media user posted a purported notification on X (formerly Twitter) showing that the government of Balochistan is placing Indian actor Salman Khan on the fourth playing field.

The post claimed that Khan referred to Balochistan as an “independent nation” at a recent event.

Identical claims were also shared elsewhere on X, Instagram and Facebook here, here and here.

Fact

The notification was self-generated and was not issued by Pakistani authorities, two officials and a digital forensics platform confirmed.

This was told by Javed Ali, the section officer of the Ministry of Interior in Balochistan Geofact check over the phone: “The document is completely fake.”

Ali explained that he issued a notice on October 16 placing a person’s name on the fourth schedule. The message was later edited, he added, to include Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s name.

A senior official in Balochistan, who spoke to Pakinomist Fact Check on condition of anonymity, also said that the notification had been addressed.

Moreover, the viral message contains several inconsistencies and grammatical errors. For example, “affiliated” is spelled “aftilist” and the document states “following names” when only one name is listed.

Grammatical errors in the instant message indicate that it is self-generated.

In addition, Attestiv, an AI content detection tool, gave the document a Tamper Score of 93.

Verdict: The claim that Pakistan has placed Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the fourth tier of its Anti-Terrorism Act (1997) is false. The viral message circulating online is a digitally manipulated document.
