A police report presented to Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has declared former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry ‘Guilty’ in five cases in connection with the May 9 events.
The report filed during the consultation of Chaudhry’s temporary bail identifies him as responsible for the violence and vandalism that took place on May 9, including incidents on Rahat Bakery and Sherpao Bridge, reported Express News.
During the consultation, Fawad requested Chaudhry with reference to the absence of his senior adviser to postpone the procedure.
The court accepted the request and postponed the case and planned the next consultation on March 19. The ATC judge, Manzoor Ali Gill, President of the Session.
Chaudhry had requested preliminary bail in relation to the arson and the cases of vandalism, including those associated with the destruction outside Rahat Bakery and elsewhere on May 9. The police report that labels Chaudhry is a significant development in the ongoing legal struggle.
The court is expected to hear further arguments in the case in March, and Chaudhry remains on preliminary bail until then.
Earlier, a heated quarrel between Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) broke out Barristor Barrister Shoaib Shaheen and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry at Adiala Jail’s Gate # 5, resulting in flaps and verbal abuse on Saturday.
Both leaders first exchanged harsh words, with Chaudhry who accused Shaheen of being an “agency’s tout” that Shaheen repeated, “Remember your own business,” reported Express News.
The confrontation then escalated with Fawad Chaudhry, who released Shoaib Shaheen, causing the PTI leader to fall to the ground.
The prison staff intervened to break the fight. Fawad Chaudhry then entered the prison place while Shoaib Shaheen sustained an injury to the arm from the fall.
PTI -Attorney Nadia Khattak, who witnessed the incident, condemned Chaudhry’s actions and said that physical violence was unacceptable despite differences. She expressed relief that Shaheen was not suffering from serious injuries.
