Jamat Disadvanture-e-Islam-Fazl (Jui-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Monday and agreed to maintain independent political paths while collaborating on national and public interest issues. While the two religious -Ooppolitan leaders found common grounds for several questions, including the genocide of Gaza and resistance to government policies, they did not reach a consensus on the formation of a formal alliance. The meeting held in Mansoora focused on discussions related to national issues and the broader Muslim world. Afterwards, the two leaders dealt with a joint press conference in which they discussed the current political landscape, the ongoing crisis in Palestine, constitutional affairs and the development of the opposition. Naeemur Rehman, who described the meeting as a heartfelt, said that both parties reached a principled understanding of continuing their political movements independently, while at the same time prioritating cooperation on major issues regarding the Muslim Ummah, especially Palestine. Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concern about the deteriorating situation in Palestine, adding that it was a collective concern for the Muslim world. He announced a major rally in Minar-E-Pakistan on April 27 and invited participation from all religious and political parties as well as the public. He revealed that religious parties are working to establish a common platform entitled Majlis-E-Iitethad-E-Tummat aiming to formulate a comprehensive attitude towards critical questions such as Palestine. He criticized OIC’s recent decision on Palestine as inadequate, and called on the Muslim world to take a more confident and unequivocal position. In the question of jihad, Fazlur Rehman clarified that it was a holy duty, but not one that adheres to a fixed schedule as prayer. Rather, it was conditional on circumstances and strategy. He said that anyone who supports the Palestinian case in any capacity essentially participates in jihad. He strongly criticized those who mock or wrong represent the concept. While recognizing earlier tensions with PTI, he claimed that Juii-F has never engaged in violent politics and remains open to dialogue. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, meanwhile, called the 26th constitutional change unnecessarily and noted that JI and Jui-F had different policies on the issue. Despite political differences, he said, we must weigh dialogue and consultation. Both parties ended the meeting with a mutual commitment to continued commitment and coordination of issues affecting the public, the Muslim Ummah and Constitutional Rights.
