FCC Stays Contempt Proceedings

.

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) on Wednesday adjourned the case pending at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case, and suspended the High Court’s scheduled hearings, effectively halting further action, including contempt of court proceedings.

A three-member bench headed by FCC Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan and comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah heard the case.

After taking appeals filed by the federal government, the court restrained the IHC from proceeding with the case, particularly with regard to potential contempt proceedings.
