President Asif Ali Zardari promoted four new ordinances, one of which increases wages for federal ministers and prime ministers to match them from National Assembly Members (MNAs).
The new ordinance changes the federal ministers and prime ministers (wages, quotas and privileges), 1975, which sets the monthly salary for federal ministers and prime ministers to RS519,000, similar to MNAs.
Before the change, federal ministers earned RS200,000 per year. Month and the prime ministers received RS180,000.
According to the regulation, the revised wages will enter into force from 1 January 2025.
In addition, President Zardari issued an ordinance to establish National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), which aimed to secure sanitary and phytosanitarian measures for import and export.
Another ordinance, the tax law regulation (amendment), 2025, was adopted to recover pending tax amounts involved in litigation.
The president also approved the Capital Development Authority (amendment) Regulation, 2025, as part of a wider set of administrative reforms.
