Caitlin Clark made his long-awaited return to court on Wednesday afternoon, but the Indiana fever did not go well against the Golden State Valkyries.
The fever was blown by Valkyries, 80-61, in a game where Clark went only 4-of-12 from the field to 10 points with six assists and five rebounds.
On the way into the game, it was interesting to see how head coach Stephanie White would insert Clark, who noticed that she doesn’t necessarily like to be at a minute’s limitation.

Clark made 25 minutes while he was an average of 33.3 over her first nine games. However, her time on the field may have been down because of the scoring late in the game.
Golden State entered the fourth quarter and owns a strong 64-51 lead, a large part of it due to a 20-9 second quarter that created a large half-time deficit for Indiana.
When the fever was unable to get back in the game, Clark was taken out with minutes that were still back to play and she never saw the court again.
Either way, it wasn’t the best game in general for the fever, as Kelsey Mitchell, Clark’s guard headpiece, only went 3-for-13 off the field. And she wasn’t the only one who fought when the fever shot only 30.9% (21-for-68) from the field as a team.

Valkyries were not much better where they only went 26 for 70 from the floor, but Veronica Burton and All-Star Kayla Thornton did well to pay when it means the most.
Burton led the game with 21 points while pulling in eight rebounds and exhausted six assists. She was cash over the arch and hit everyone except one of her six three-point attempts.
Thornton didn’t have the best shooting game (4-for-15), but she was able to hack 18 points thanks to four made three-pointers and six free kicks.

The fever looks to get back in the victory column against a tough opponent in the Atlanta dream on Friday night at home. The dream is 12-7 a year, while Indiana fell to 9-10.
