A guard of honor ceremony was held at the Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to honor the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, on his appointment as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defense Staff.
During the ceremony, contingents from the three armed forces presented the COAS and the newly appointed Chief of Defense Forces with a formal guard of honour. Field Marshal Munir was also presented with a general salute and inspected the guard of honour, the state broadcaster reported.

At the ceremony, field marshal Seyyed Asim Munir, Nishan Imtiaz (Military), ہلال ج, ۆlal ج Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces were awarded the honor of the Defense Forces of the three armed forces.
