Army chief highlights drones, electronic warfare and digital skills during Bahawalpur visit

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said on Thursday that the Pakistan Armed Forces is undergoing a major transformation across multiple domains where technology is reshaping the future nature of warfare, according to the military’s media wing.
“The nature of war has evolved massively, with technological advancements driving the evolution, which dictates a huge mental transformation at all levels. In the future, technological maneuvers will replace physical maneuvers and will fundamentally change the way offensive and defensive operations are conducted. Therefore, Pakistan Armed Forces embraces a rapid innovation process, and must remain in this process, which must absorb and adapt technology to a rapid innovation,” he said.
The remarks were made during his visit to Bahawalpur Garrison, where he was briefed on operational, training and administrative matters of the corps, with special focus on preparations for multi-domain warfare, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The Army Chief also witnessed a high-intensity field exercise, “Steadfast Resolve”, at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The exercise showcased the integration of niche technologies, including unmanned aerial systems (drones), advanced surveillance assets, electronic warfare capabilities and modern command and control mechanisms, reflecting the armed forces’ emphasis on technology-enabled multi-domain operations.

Addressing the troops, the COAS and CDF praised their high morale, professional competence and operational readiness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, stressing the need to maintain optimal readiness to meet future battlefield and security challenges.

Earlier, Field Marshal Munir ROHI inaugurated the eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities for students, especially from southern Punjab and across the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus and reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
The Army Chief later visited the EME Regional Workshop where he was briefed on maintenance regimes to sustain modern platforms through advanced technologies, indigenization and other combat support measures.

On arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, COAS and CDF were received by Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He also laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs.
