CDF pays tribute to police martyrs and calls for stronger law enforcement partnerships

Defense Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad on Tuesday where he spoke to officers of the Pakistan Police Service.

On his arrival, Field Marshal Munir was greeted by the Commandant of the National Police Academy and a guard of honor was presented by a police contingent. He laid a wreath at the Police Martyr’s Monument and offered Fateha, paying respect to police officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty while working to maintain peace, uphold the rule of law and ensure public safety.

He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police personnel to tackle terrorism, crime and internal security challenges.

During the visit, the Field Marshal received a briefing on the School for High Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development and other police training programs focused on increasing capacity and modernizing the force. He also held discussions with the Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) where he reiterated the role of the police as the first line of defense to protect life, property and dignity of citizens.

In a meeting with Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), additional IGPs and senior police officials, Field Marshal Munir emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation, modern policing techniques and building public confidence in law enforcement. He stressed the need for a strong, professional and community-focused police force to ensure internal security and uphold the rule of law.

The top police leadership, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to improving police standards, increasing professional capacity and pursuing necessary institutional reforms to address current security challenges.
