Finmin praises increasing consumer confidence

Islamabad:

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb welcomed the results of Ipsos Consumer Confident Survey for the second quarter of 2025 on Sunday and called it a strong confirmation of the improved financial views and public atmosphere throughout Pakistan.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Finance said Aurangzeb welcomed the investigative results and said it was a timely validation of Pakistan’s financial direction and a clear signal that the country was on a stable path to improvement and resilience.

Ipsos is an international market survey company that brings together insight into consumer behavior, public meaning and market trends. The company uses methods such as online polls, interviews and focus groups in 89 countries.

The study reveals a significant increase in consumer confidence, with 42 percent of Pakistanis now believing the country was heading in the right direction – the highest level recorded in six years. The perception of the economy that was strong had also reached their most favorable levels since August 2019.

Aurangzeb noted that these encouraging data reflected the success of the government’s disciplined and targeted macroeconomic strategy implemented over the past 14 months.

“Stabilization of key economic indicators, including the inclusion of inflation, strengthening the exchange rate, rebuilding currency reserves and improved fiscal discipline has created a foundation for renewed public confidence and economic recovery,” he added.

He emphasized that consumer confidence to make large purchases and investments has doubled compared to the same period last year, indicating that households began to feel safer in their financial prospects.
