KARACHI:
A fire broke out at Imtiaz Private Supermarket on Zamzama Street in Clifton area on Monday, triggering panic in the vicinity as the fire brigade rushed to the spot.
According to fire department officials, six fire departments are currently battling the blaze. Dense smoke and darkness in the basement have, however, hampered rescue and fire-fighting operations.
Rescue sources said doors are being cut open using cutters to gain access to the basement, in an attempt to reach people who may be trapped inside and to bring the fire under control. The rescue officials add that rescue operations may take around 2 hours to complete.
This is a developing story and will be updated as details emerge.
