KARACHI:

A fire broke out in a building near Jodia Bazaar, close to Karachi’s Saddar area on Tuesday, according to Rescue 1122.

A statement from the Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the department’s central command and control received a report and immediately dispatched fire and rescue teams to the spot along with an ambulance and a fire truck.

It added that firefighting efforts were currently underway and rescue personnel 1122 were working to bring the fire under control.

Additional information about the injuries or the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

Karachi has been grappling with a series of fire incidents, with back-to-back blazes reported at Gul Plaza, Electronics Market and Landhi Industrial Processing Zone.

Last month’s Gul Plaza fire claimed 79 lives, while several others were reported missing. After the rescue operation, the site was sealed off by the authorities.
