A warehouse belonging to an online food delivery company in Karachi fired late Monday night, with firefighters facing significant challenges in launching the operation to extinguish the fire.

Despite reaching the site of poor storage located in the Nazimabad area of the port city, the firefighters were unable to enter the premises due to excessive smoke and a lack of ventilation, leaving them unable to begin fire control efforts, even four hours after the fire broke out.

The officials pulled down a wall in the warehouse to release smoke so that the fire could be extinguished.

The warehouse, filled with various goods, including grocery goods, has only one entry point that has complicated the situation, the fire department’s officials said.

Five fire trucks are currently on site, but officials have said they can’t say with certainty how long the operation will take to extinguish the fire.
