A fire has broken out in the Koh Sulaiman forest in the surrounding area of Dera Ismail Khan’s Darazinda Tehsil, damaging pine nuts, olives and other valuable trees.
According to reports, a fire has broken out in Koh Sulaiman forests in Darazinda Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan due to unknown reasons.
The fire has spread over more than five kilometers of the northern area of the forest and has severely damaged pine nuts, olives and pines along with other valuable trees in the natural forests. The local residents have strongly demanded that the KP Chief Minister take permanent measures to protect the natural forests and immediately replace the current staff, from the forest secretary to the officers and staff posted in the area, with new staff.
They claim that the current staff, being locals, are not in a position to take action against those who are illegally felling the trees and setting them on fire.
