Karachi:
Flames enveloped a five-storey factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone (EPZ) on Thursday morning, causing the building to collapse and damage at least three workers.
According to Rescue 1122, the workers tried to leave the building when the fire broke out and was able to evacuate with the help of the fire officers.
The chairman of Landhi Epz told the media that the site’s own fire bid reached the place first, and then several fire offers were called.
Factories nearby were also evacuated considering the scope of the fire.
This marks the fourth factory fire in Landhi EPZ in the last few months, the latest in June when a fire broke out that shrouded three factories.
At least five firefighters were injured on Sunday while fought for a flame that tore through several factories in Karachi’s Landhi export processing zone, emergencies said.
At least firefighters were injured during the extinguishing operation. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, but the first probe attributed to the fire’s rapid spread to chemicals and substance stored in the factories.
