Fishermen return after long captivity in India

Karachi:

A total of 54 Pakistani fishermen imprisoned in Indian prisons for years have returned home through the Wagah border and marked an emotional return after a long and difficult detention.

The fishermen, who were arrested between 2017 and 2021 for allegedly violation of Indian maritime borders near Sir Creek, were received by the Edhi Foundation team at the border and transported to Karachi in special vehicles arranged by the organization.

After their arrival at the Edhi Tower Center, they were warmly welcomed with wreaths and rose petals showered on them.

Many of the returns that belong to various coastal districts in Sindh told up experiences during their prison and claimed they were subjected to “torture and inhuman treatment” by Indian authorities.

Families who had waited years for their loved ones to express joy and relief by reuniting the Edhi Center.
