The chairman says the couple spent over a decade in state care, now financially independent
Five young adults raised in state care of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau tied the knot at its office in Lahore on Saturday, entering into marriage after spending more than a decade without knowledge of their biological families.
A press release issued today by the agency said the nikah ceremony was held at its premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said the couples had lived at the institution for over 10 years and were now over 20 years old.

“These children have no information about their parents or close relatives,” she said, adding that the agency had assumed the role of a guardian in their lives.
She emphasized that during their stay, the children not only received formal education, but were also trained in various professional skills. “They are now employed and able to live dignified and independent lives,” she said.
Ahmad noted that this was not the first such initiative as the agency had earlier arranged marriages for two boys and two girls brought up under its care.
The ceremony was attended by Director General Nadeem Akhtar, Director Programs Hasnain Khalid, Director Administration Waqar Azeem, along with agency staff and children.
Expressing her best wishes to the newlyweds, the Chairperson said she prayed for their future prosperity and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to make the ceremony possible.
