A major attack unfolded in Boya camp in Datta Khel area of ​​North Waziristan on Friday when armed militants targeted a security forces camp. According to official sources, the attackers launched the attack by firing at the post and trying to break the perimeter. In the ensuing fierce exchange of fire between militants and security personnel, all five militants (four ground attackers and one car bomber) were killed, while seven security personnel were injured in the clash.

Initial reports say the attackers used a vehicle packed with explosives and suicide jackets to breach and attack the camp, with a powerful explosion reported near the site, damaging shops and buildings and injuring residents. The explosion was reportedly loud enough to be heard from Miranshah city, about 25 kilometers away, and heavy smoke was seen rising from the site shortly after the impact.

According to reports, the conflict lasted for three hours until the assailants were killed, but the Boya army camp is still not cleared.

Police along with security forces and bomb disposal units quickly cordoned off the area and launched a clearance and search operation to secure the surroundings. Rescue 1122 and medical teams were sent to help the injured, who are receiving treatment at local medical facilities.

Officials say that following the attack, security throughout the district was put on high alert and precautions were taken, including temporarily suspending traffic on a key highway.

Aswad-ul-Harab, the Huzaifa suicide squad, affiliated to the Hafiz Gul Bahadar group under the Ittihadul Mujahideen Pakistan conglomerate, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Tank Saddar police station attack

Militants attempted a drone-based attack on Mureed Akbar Shaheed police station late last night. The attackers used a quadcopter to hit the police station’s daily logbook room, seriously injuring the station officer and his assistant. Both injured policemen were taken to Tank Civil Hospital where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Police and local security forces reported hearing intense gunfire immediately after the explosion. Security teams have cordoned off the area and launched a full-scale search operation as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
