Balakot:
Heavy rain, flash floods and cloudbursts have seriously affected the Kaghan -Dalen tourism industry. Tourist flow in July and August remained insignificant, leaving popular destinations such as Shogran, Kaghan, Naran and Babusar Top deserted. Companies associated with tourism are facing major losses.
The valley, which is already vulnerable due to climate change, is witnessing rapid glown meltdown this year. While June was unusually low rainfall, July and August brought continuous rainy weather, causing landslides, flash flooding and flooding streams that paralyzed tourism. As a result, tourist activities have not yet recovered, which has left local businesses in need.
Experts warn that the effects of climate change could last for years unless a comprehensive strategy is being developed. Timely measures are important, especially strict actions against illegal constructions along river banks, to remove obstacles in the water flow and mitigate future disasters.
