Spurrier, who won a national championship such as Gators’ main coach in 1996, torn in Bett for the decision to spit on a Bulls player.

“We thought our defense could hold them, but then the stupid spapping punishment that has become fashionable,” Spurrier said “Anthony Dooley noticed Podcast.” “I guess he saw the NFL guy do it and said, ‘I can do it.’ I hope not.

Spurrier referred to Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Lineman Jalen Carter, who spit on Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Dak Prescott during their matchup on Thursday night to start the NFL season.

The current Florida head coach Bill Napier said Bett apologized for his actions and would face “internal discipline” for his actions.

“The children are remorseful,” Napier said. “He feels like he let the team down. Generally it was out of character for him. He made a mistake and he compromised the team. He made a selfish decision. He mistakenly represented our fans, our alumni, the university.

“When a young man enters your office and his immediate concern is how he did not represent this place in the right way, I think it is a good indication of his attitude to it.”

Bett also offered an apology, including to Lineman Cole Skinner.

“I will sincerely apologize for my actions in the game on the last Saturday,” Bett wrote in social media posts. “I let my teammates, coaches, family and the entire Gator Nation down. Our coaches are always included in us the value of sports and I crossed the line. I also want to apologize for South Florida.
