Islamabad:
Senate chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday, the authorities took the task of not producing the PTI senator Ejaz Chaudhry despite the issuance of production orders.
While PTI senator Aon Abbas Boppi was presented, the repeated escape of orders relating to Chaudhry Gilani to refer the matter to the privileges committee.
Meanwhile, Buppi grabbed the moment to tell his ordeal to the house and expressed gratitude to Gilani for his “principle attitude.”
In his decision, Gilani claimed: “Such an ignoring the parliamentary authority cannot be allowed to continue uncontrollably as it threatens the institutional integrity of the Senate and the wider democratic framework.”
He had formally the committee to review the question and submit a report.
“I hereby refer to the question of non-implementation of production orders regarding Senator Ejaz Chaudhry to the Privileges Committee for its treatment and report,” he added.
While recognizing Buppi’s presence, Gilani noted, “Once again, once again, the directives of Senator Ejaz Chaudhry have not been met, corresponding to non -compliance with the President’s legal orders.”
He warned that ignoring the directives of the Senate constituted a “violation of privilege” in accordance with Rule 71 of the Senate’s rules of procedure and business, 2012.
With reference to a similar escape of orders from his term of office as a National Assembly speaker (1993-1997), Gilani remembered: “This is not an unprecedented situation,” added that he was “forced” to take similar actions in the past.
He confirmed his commitment to maintaining the rule of law and parliamentary supremacy.
Bappi detailed trials in the house
Meanwhile, when presented in the Senate, Boppi told his ordeal, Gilani thanked for his “principled attitude” and for refusing to president for the case if both PTI senators were not produced.
Buppi also appreciated Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar for his “stand” and said it led to a reduction in “some of the difficulties and oppression” against him.
By telling the events on March 6, Boppi said that at 1 p.m. At 8:30 pm, about 20 individuals went into his house in Multan, cracked the front door and maintained his house staff. Without naming any law enforcement agency, he claimed that a “joint operation” was performed, which also targeted his factory.
“I slept with my wife when they knocked the door so hard that the lock broke and they came right in,” he said.
Buppi also claimed that the individuals demanded his cell phones, and when he could not immediately produce them, they threatened to imprison his 16-year-old son. His son was released only after a house worker picked up the phones.
BUPPI told his legal performance, where he was sent on a day’s custody. Compared to his case with Fawad Chaudhry and Shehryar Afridi, he referred sarcastically to the charges against him as a “respectable spruce.”
The PTI senator claimed that his only “error” was running an anti-inflation campaign in South Punjab, who remained loyal to PTI founder Imran Khan and spoke to imprisoned PTI leaders.
“These are my mistakes that I have been subjected to punishment for two days and maybe also face it in the future,” he noted.
It is relevant to note that Gilani had issued production orders to both PTI senators one day earlier, as the authorities are to secure their presence in Saturday’s session. However, Chaudhry, who remains imprisoned at Lahores Kot Lakhpat prison, was not once again brought to the house.
Chaudhry’s absence on Saturday marked the third unimelanded production order for him. In January, Gilani issued a similar order so that Chaudhry could participate in the Senate Session on January 14, but he was not produced, which prompted opposition legislators to arrange a protest with his pictures.
Chaudhry was first arrested on May 11, 2023, under section 3 of Public Order Maintenance (MPO) in connection with May 9 -Vold. Although Islamabad High Court declared his detention under MPO Invalid, he was arrested on May 25 and transferred to Lahore.
