Lahore/Islamabad:
The provincial disaster control authority (PDMA) Punjab on Thursday said the river flows over the province returns to normal, with only flooding at low to medium -sized level reported in a few places.
According to PDMA spokesman, the water level has subsided significantly in areas with flooding hit, while Indus, Jhelum, Ravi and Chenab rivers are now flowing at normal levels. Streams at Punjnad -The main work is also normalized.
Moderate flood, however, persists in the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala, while flooding at low-level is registered on Sulemanki and Islam Headworks. PDMA confirmed that Hill Torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan also floats at normal levels.
PDMA DG said the provincial administration remains on duty under the director’s directives, with relief operations that continue in the affected areas. Citizens have been asked to contact the relief line 1129 in the event of a crisis.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Operation Center (Neoc) has warned of potential river flows in the next two days due to rainfall. Thunderstorms with scattered rainfall are expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, while Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Zhob divisions can also receive intermittent shows.
Heavy influxes have been reported by Sindh’s barriers. Guddu is currently witnessing an emission of medium -sized level of 500,000 CUSERCS, SUKKUR faces high flood levels with 571,000 CUSSCS, while Kotri is experiencing flow at the medium -sized level but stays at risk of potential flooding.
Neoc warned that heavy rain can trigger hazardous waves in hill -torrents and mountain streams. Citizens have been encouraged to avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges and nullahs under high flow.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said it closely monitors the situation and has required all relevant departments to take pre -temporary measures. Residents of flooded areas have been asked to keep up to date through official alarms and the authority’s disaster alarm app.
