Pakistan’s foreign office has issued a strong condemnation of India’s missile attack and called them a “unprovoked act of open aggression” and an obvious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law.
The Foreign Office’s spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan said Wednesday that the Indian Air Force carried strikes with the help of the standoff weapons while remaining in the Indian airspace – yet targeted civilian areas across the international border and the line with control (LOC).
“These attacks were carried out over the international border of Murideke and Bahawalpur and over Loc in Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” Khan said. “The goals were innocent civilians, including women and children who have been martyrated as a result of these fair actions.”
The spokesman also warned that these strikes posed serious threats to commercial air traffic in the region and violated the holiness of international aviation norms.
“Pakistan categorically condemns this action with Indian aggression,” Khan said. “Such actions are in clear violation of the UN Charter, international law and established norms for relationships between the state.”
He also accused Indian leadership of having used the Pahagam attack as a pretext to push for a false terrorism narrative and destabilize regional peace. “India has again used terrorism as an excuse to justify military aggression and risk peace and security in the region,” Khan said.
He emphasized that India’s irresponsible behavior has brought two nuclear armed states dangerously close to a major conflict. “The situation is developing rapidly,” he warned.
Khan confirmed that Pakistan reserves the right to respond at a time and place where it chooses, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and International Law.
“The government, the armed forces and the people of Pakistan are united against Indian aggression,” he said, adding, “they will always trade with Iron Resole to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
