The Pakistani High Commissioner of Rwanda, Naeemullah Khan, has facilitated the entry of stranded Pakistanis to Rwanda following the recent conflict escalation in the Democratic Republic Congo, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
About 150 Pakistanis had been stranded in Goma, a city affected by the violence. From now on, about 75 individuals are crossed to Rwanda. Pakistan High Commission in Kigali has provided accommodation and food to those affected, informed of spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan.
The High Commission is actively engaging with the local Pakistani community to ensure that other citizens in distress are identified and assisted. Further movement of Pakistanis in Rwanda is expected in the coming days, Khan is maintained.
Staff of the High Commission maintain direct contact with any person requesting help. The mission also reaches out to Pakistanis in the border town of Bukavu, which remains a different focal point of concern, he added.
