FO slams Jaishankar’s ‘baseless, irresponsible’ comments about Pakistan Army

Says the minister’s comment was an attempt to malign Pakistan and divert attention from India’s own regional behaviour

The State Department categorically rejected the latest remarks by India’s foreign minister targeting the Pakistan Army, calling the comments “highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible.”

The answer came a day after the Indian foreign minister, Dr. S Jaishankar, while addressing a public forum in New Delhi, blamed the Pakistan military and said “a lot of our problems originate from the Pakistan Army.”

In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan views the Indian minister’s claims as an attempt to defame the country and divert attention from India’s own regional behaviour.

“Pakistan categorically rejects and condemns the highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible comments made by the Indian Foreign Minister in his latest statement,” the press release said.

Andrabi maintained that Pakistani institutions, including its armed forces, have repeatedly demonstrated professionalism and a commitment to national security. “Pakistan is a responsible state and all its institutions, including the armed forces, are a pillar of national security, dedicated to protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Referring to the May 2025 conflict, he added that it “vividly demonstrated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces as well as their determination to defend the motherland and the people of Pakistan against any Indian aggression in an appropriate, effective and yet responsible manner.”

He emphasized that “No amount of propaganda can contradict this truth.”

The spokesman accused the Indian government of running a targeted smear campaign to divert attention from what Pakistan describes as India’s own destabilizing role. “The Indian leaders’ attempt to defame Pakistan’s state institutions and its leadership is part of the propaganda campaign designed to divert attention from India’s destabilizing actions in the region and beyond, as well as state-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan,” the statement said.

He warned that such “incendiary rhetoric only exemplifies the extent of India’s disregard for friendship, peace and stability in our region.”

The statement also criticized India’s domestic political climate and called on New Delhi to address what Pakistan views as dangerous ideological trends. “Instead of making misleading remarks about the armed forces of Pakistan, India must investigate the fascist and revisionist Hindutva ideology that has unleashed a reign of mob justice, lynchings, arbitrary detentions and demolition of properties and places of worship,” Andrabi said, adding that the Indian state and its leadership of this terror “have become hostages of this terror.”

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the spokesman said the country remained steadfast in defending its sovereignty. “Pakistan believes in coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy. But it stands united and resolute in its intent and ability to protect its interests and sovereignty.”
