- Amazfit may have just leaked its own upcoming Active Max smartwatch
- The product list contained new details not seen before
- It also included pictures of the device in action
Amazfit absolutely blew us away with its Active 2 smartwatch, which we gave a full five stars and marked as one of the best cheap smartwatches money can buy in our review. Now the manufacturer is believed to be working on a more premium offering in the form of the Amazfit Active Max, and a new leak has just shed more light on the upcoming device.
Funnily enough, the new information doesn’t come from some anonymous leaker or analyst – no, it seems to come directly from Amazfit itself. It helps give it considerable weight and suggests that the details inside could well be on the money.
It all came about when Amazfit accidentally published a draft of the Active Max smartwatch on its website – a post that has since been removed. Details and images suggested that the Active Max will support Zepp Pay contactless payments and will have a 576 mAh battery that should keep it charged for 25 days at a time. You’ll be able to track a range of health and fitness metrics, including sleep quality, heart rate and SpO2 levels, and it’ll also support the BioCharge Energy Monitoring feature.
This is not the first time we hear about the Amazfit Active Max. Just yesterday, leaker Roland Quandt shared a few exciting details attached to the product, including that it will reportedly come with a 1.5-inch OLED display, Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility, and waterproofing down to a depth of 50 meters. The draft listing on Amazfit’s website appears to confirm some of these details, while also providing a few new ones of its own.
No release date yet
The Amazfit Active 2 offered an incredible amount for its $99 / £99 price tag, and while the Active Max is expected to be a high-end device, rumors suggest it will stay on the affordable side of things with an expected price of €169.90 in Europe, which could equate to around $169 / £130 / AU$2.
An asking price in that range means it significantly undercuts the $249 Apple Watch SE 3, which is currently one of the best affordable smartwatches out there. The two devices won’t be exactly alike, but anyone in the market for a new smartwatch who doesn’t want to break the bank may be tempted by Amazfit’s Active Max when it eventually gets a release date.
However, this is something that was not revealed in the draft product listing, and it remains to be seen when Amazfit plans to officially reveal and launch the watch. When that happens, there will likely be quite a bit of interest in what it can offer.
