The former NFL star -quarterback Cam Newton knows that his take is not popular, but said it anyway.
Stephen A. Smith asked Newton if he would exchange his 2015 NFL MVP Award for a Super Bowl -Se win under ESPN’s “First Take” on Thursday.
“No,” Newton replied immediately.

“Really? Wow, ”Smith said surprised at Newton’s answer.
Newton asked a question to help explain his unexpected response.
“Because you have to ask it through this lens. It was a very journalistic point of view/vantage point, Answer Stephen A. I will ask you this question and just to ask this thought: What is more important, influence or championships?” Said Newton.
“You look at a guy like Allen Iverson, ‘You got up on the table and Rarara,’ Everyone Won’t Be Michael Jordan, everyone won’t be Patrick Mahomes, everyone won’t be the people who have the luxury of saying, ‘ Hi, I not only dominated this sport but I also have championships to support it. ‘ “
Newton won the MVP award in 2015 as he led Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 regular seasonal record and went all the way to the Super Bowl before losing to the Denver Broncos 24-10.
To further support his argument, Newton then started to mention quarterbacks that were not MVP caliber players but won the Super Bowl.
“Like, let me remind you, Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl, Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl, Respectful, Nick Foles won a Super Bowl. So yes when you look at these guys and you say what’s more Important, would you prefer to win a Super Bowl?

“I think this is the humble approach, but if we are honest, the effect of keeping yourself responsible for saying that everyone has a responsibility to do. And you can say as a MVP prize winner or an allamerican, you have kept yourself or you have kept your end of the negotiation down.
For Newton, he said he would prefer the MVP prize to the Super Bowl because it told him he was doing his job.
“And that’s what it really comes to me, I know it’s not the popular choice I am not trying to get popularized. But my roof is, I take individual success because I did my job. Football isn’t acting About a guy trying to do 11 jobs, it’s 11 guys doing a job and if everyone does their job best, famous words from our coach Belichick: ‘Just doing your job.’ “
If Panthers had won the Super Bowl L against Broncos, Newton would have joined an exclusive list of quarterbacks to win both MVP and Super Bowl in the same season.
For Newton, he prefers to keep MVP instead of winning the Super Bowl.
Mahomes and Jalen Hurts play in the Super Bowl Lix, but none of them are up to the MVP prize this season.

In 2022, however, Mahomes won MVP and Super Bowl, while Hurts was runner-up in the MVP race and lost Super Bowl to Chiefs.
Chiefs will take on the Eagles in the Super Bowl Lix at. 18:30 a 9th February at Fox.
