The worst held secret for the high season is out after Aaron Rodgers officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It is a one-year-old deal for the 41-year-old who spent its last two seasons with the New York Jets, each ending in great disappointment.
But Steelers, while choosing not to choose a much-proclaimed quarterback in the NFL draft-they drew out Will Howard in the sixth round-had targeted at Rodgers since practically the start of the season.

Ex-Steels Ryan Clark is not a fan of the signing.
“This is the worst case for Pittsburgh Steelers fans,” Clark said at ESPN on Thursday. “It continues to keep you fastened in mediocrity. Will this team be better? Have they gotten better in the quarterback space? Absolutely. Will they fight for the championship that Pittsburgh Steelers man and fans and organization think is the standard? No, they will not.
“They are fighting for a wild-card-place. They are likely to be home week one of the playoffs and again be looking for a franchise quarterback.
“If you told me to pair one of this era’s greatest coaches with one of this era’s biggest quarterbacks, I would expect greatness. That’s not what we get. Maybe six years ago, but not now.”

This season, Jets made the decision to move on from Rodgers after two years with him under the center. His first season did not go according to plan after taking up an Achilles in week 1, but a 5-12 record last season was not what anyone on 1 jets was running with a healthy rooted root under the center.
Rodgers was back in the free agent market for any quarterback needle team. The same question that Jets faced when they were looking for trade for Rodgers with Green Bay Packers hung over his accessibility – retirement.

Rodgers will lead Arthur Smith’s violation, which does not contain a broad recipient George Pickens in 2025 after he was traded with this season for Dallas Cowboys. However, Pittsburgh reached an agreement with Seahawks to land Pro Bowler DK Metcalf to assume the top broad recipient role.
Rodgers will also work with the tight end Pat Freiermuth, recipients Robert Woods and Calvin Austin and a young, dynamic back field of Jaylen Warren and third round elections Kaleb Johnson.
The four-time MVP quarterback had a strong end to his campaign in 2024 despite having dealt with some annoying injuries in the beginning. Through his last 10 games with New York, he threw after 18 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

Rodgers will be 42 in December when he hopes to be in the playoff position with the third NFL team in his Hall of Fame career.
Rodgers’ Lone Super Bowl title came against Steelers in 2011.
