- Apple has renewed Foundation For a fourth season
- Filming begins on the next rate of the series at the beginning of 2026
- We do not know if sci-fi epo’s original eight-season plan is still being followed
Apple has officially renewed Foundation in a fourth season.
The message came on the same date (September 12) that Foundation Season 3’s last episode debuted Apple TV+, and fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief over Sci-Fi Epic’s future after months of radio movement.
While reports in February suggested that Foundation Season 4 was already under development, Apple had not given any indication that this was actually the case. In fact, there was so much secrecy about Space Opera’s possible return that its role of role was not aware that a fourth season had been green by Apple leaders.
In a speech to me at the end of June ahead of season 3’s arrival, stars Lou Llobell and Jared Harris said they didn’t know if Foundation would get a fourth season. That was also the case when I was talking to Llobell and another season 3 -role crew, Tomas Lemarquis, in early September, with the couple admitted that they still had no idea if Foundation Season 4 would see the light of day.
Fortunately, Apple’s entertainment department has now completed all the speculation.
Comment on the show’s renewal said Apple’s leader of programming Michael Chernis: “It’s been great to see Foundation Become such a global phenomenon, with fans setting from every corner of the world. With each new season, the excitement of this trailblazing sci-fi epos continues just by building because of the bold storytelling and collective artistry in this extraordinarily talented role crew and creative team. We are happy to continue exploring this universe in season four. “
Confirmation that one of the best Apple TV+ exhibitions returns is not the only message about the show. Apple also revealed Ian Goldberg and David Kob will share Co-ShowRunning tasks in Season 4, with the couple replacing co-creator David’s Gyer at Foundation‘s creative rudder. Despite stepping back from his showrunning tasks last February, Goyer remains part of the series’ executive producing team.
“There are no series quite like Foundation And we feel lucky and honored to carry the torch forward as co-showrunners into season four, “said Goldberg and Kob.” We look forward to continuing the epic, emotional, storytelling that defined the first three seasons of the show and to work with some of the most talented, passionate creative partners in the industry. “
Film recording should begin at Foundation Season 4 at the beginning of 2026, giving me hope that the critically acclaimed Apple TV-Original’s next installment could make its bow on one of the world’s best streaming services in 2027. The fact that Apple did not advertise it will be the show’s last season suggests that a fifth season could also be green lit at one point.
While Foundation‘s immediate future is sure, I am still not convinced that it will achieve its original goal for more seasons.
Before FoundationThe debut season was released in September 2021, Goyer revealed that he had turned an eight-season plan to Apple. In a Q&A sent on its own site in August, Gyer strongly suggested that this overview was no longer attached. “I don’t think the new team sticks to any of these ideas,” he wrote. “They map their own path and make it their own as they should.”
What does it mean for Foundation‘s eight-season overview? It is possible that Goldberg, Kob and Company have only fine -tuned the history -based part of Goyer’s plan. In my opinion, it is more likely scenario that Goyer’s eight-season overview has been condensed so much that I would not be shocked if Foundation Ends up only running for five seasons.
We do not know for sure until another major update on the future of the show is delivered by Apple.
