Muzaffarabad:
Four terrorists were killed and two policemen embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in the Hussain KOT area of the Rawalakot District, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Wednesday.
According to police officers, the meeting took place when law enforcement staff attacked a suspected hiding place. The terrorists allegedly opened fire and threw hand grenades on the security team, resulting in the martyrdom of two policemen on the spot.
In an attempt to avoid arrest, the terrorists detonated explosion devices and killed themselves in the process. Among the deceased was the ring leader, Zarnosh Naseem, who police said was in demand in several high -profile cases, including the murder of constable Sajjad Resham.
Authorities added that Naseem had lived in the Rawalakot area for some time and was associated with a described terrorist clothing operating in the region.
Deputy Inspector General (you) Poonch, Sardar Zaheer, confirmed the death of the four terrorists and martyrdoms for two police personnel during surgery.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for a successful terrorist visit. In a statement, he paid tribute to the martyred policemen and noted that their victim had helped to avert a larger tragedy.
“The martyred officers have set an example by sacrificing their lives in the duty of duty,” said Naqvi, adding, “the whole nation greets their courage and stands with the deprived families of this difficult time.”
