Four villages in lower Kurram ordered to evacuate in the middle of security fears

    Parachinar: Authorities have issued evacuation messages for residents of four villages in lower Kurram due to escalating security concerns in the region.

    The district administration announced the evacuation for Ochit, Manduri, Dad Kumar and Bagan on Wednesday and emphasized the need to protect residents’ lives and property.

    In a related effort, six families from Lower Kurram were moved to Hangu on Tuesday, where they temporarily stayed with relatives as tension rises. Officials indicated that when the villages have vacated, search operations in the area begin to improve security.

    This development comes in the midst of a troubled increase in violence in the region, where law enforcement authorities report several attacks on vehicles and convoys.

    Kurram has been wrapped up with violence for decades, but over 150 people have been killed in a fresh campaign that started last November when two separate convoys traveled during police escort were assaulted, leaving 40 people died.

    Long -term road closures and the complete hanging of movement to and from Kurram due to the turmoil had cut off the district from the outside world, which led to a serious lack of food and medicine, which reportedly resulted in further deaths.

    The contradictory parties finally agreed to ceasefire under a government and military-broken peace pact that requires the surrender of all weapons and the removal of bunkers in accordance with the KP Apex Committee’s orders.

    Despite the peace agreement, however, there have been repeated attacks on convoys and vehicles, including a targeted attack on Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and Assistant Commissioner Saeed Manan Boshra.

    Earlier this week, a convoy Bakhold, resulting in deaths for five security staff and four drivers, while 20 others, including five security officers and five drivers, were injured.

    In addition, 36 trucks were looted and 19 were set on fire during the attack, according to police.

    Last month, terrorists transferred a convoy of 35 vehicles to re -examine local dealers in the residual territory with rice, flour, cooking oil and essential medicine that required life for at least 8 people, including security staff, drivers and civilians. Retaliatory action from security forces resulted in the murder of six assailants.

    Authorities are now intensifying security measures to limit further violence in the troubled region.

    Terrorists arrested

    Security forces arrested 10 alleged terrorists involved in the attack on a convoy in the Kurram Tribal District, police officers said Wednesday.

    According to police, the arrests were carried out during operations performed in different areas of Kurram. The detained terrorists were moved to a non -revealed place for further investigation.

    The suspects were reportedly involved in the attack on February 17 at the convoy.

    Law enforcement authorities continued their search for several militants attached to the incident.

    Meanwhile, an official Communique said that Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, along with Deputy Pos Inspector of Police Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat, had reached the place shortly after the attack on the convoy and engaged in evacuation of the convoy safely with the officers and Jawans from the law enforcement authorities .

    It said an exchange of firing continued between miscreans and security staff.

    All 63 drivers were surely evacuated. During this action, four law enforcement jaws were martyrated while fighting bravely, while four security staff including an officer were also injured.
