American tennis star Danielle Collins on Tuesday defended his outbreak against a cameraman during a tournament last week.

Collins’ incident took place on the International Auto De Strasbourg against Emma Raducanu. During a transition, she asked the camera to keep away as she refilled her water bottle. She said the cameraman was acting “wildly inappropriate.”

She spoke in the long run about it after the victory over Jodie Anna Burrage in the first round of the French Open.

“I think what happened in Strasbourg is just me asking for personal space in my workplace. I don’t know why it’s even a topic of discussion,” she said via the tennis letter. “It should be something we can get under, like our work. The fact that I have had to ask so many different times in my career, and in different struggles to just have an appropriate level of personal place is a bit strange.

“I often think it seems that my answer is being treated like the very offense. I learn it as a woman asking for personal space seems to be a problem for many people. I think it is really pathetic honest that it is even a topic of discussion. It is something that has not been able to make the adaptation over time.”

Collins said that in the video that became viral across social media, “so much people don’t see.” She said fans “can’t see the person walk and stand right on top of Emma to get a good shot of me in about a 2-3 foot space.”

She added that she had to be able to focus on the fight itself without having a camera in her face.

“I am doing a performance job. I am trying to focus on my work. I am trying to maintain my focus and concentration,” Collins said. “My job requires channeling physical, emotional and then logical things going on. It’s my job to put it together. The last thing I should focus on is someone who is right on my opponent and right in my face. It’s just really unnecessary.”

Collins wondered where the line was for those working behind the camera.

“I don’t necessarily think it was creepy,” she said. “But I think we should all be able to say, like ‘Hi. I want some physical space.’ You go to different tournaments and you ask nicely most of the time.
