- New heroes are coming to Marvel Rivals
- Developer NetEase Games wants to release one approximately every six weeks
- This is in addition to other seasonal content like new maps
This has been stated by developer NeatEase Games Marvel Rivals will receive a new hero “every half of the season” – or roughly every six weeks.
Game director Guangyun Chen revealed the plans in a recent interview with Metro. He said that “fresh season stories, new maps and new heroes” are coming, with each new season split into “two halves”. In “each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero,” he continued.
The overall goal is to “continue to improve the experience” and “keep everyone excited in our community.” That means there’s an awful lot of new heroes on the way, indicating a very promising future for the live-service hit.
Marvel Rivals launched as a free-to-play title on December 5, 2024. It had an impressive roster of 33 characters on day one, ranging from comics like Captain America and Iron Man in addition to more unusual choices like Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark.
That number has already increased to 35, thanks to the recent additions of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, coinciding with the launch of Season 1. They will soon be followed by the Human Torch and The Thing in the latter half of the season, but social the media is already abuzz with speculation about who could be next.
Recent leaks and rumors suggest that Blade, Captain Marvel, Deadpool, and Doctor Doom are all on the cards, which would see us through most of the year on this six-week schedule if the developer manages to keep up the pace. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess, as the studio has shown it’s not afraid to dig deep into the Marvel source material for choices.
If you are new to Marvel Rivals and want to try it out, it is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
