Fuel, power prices are set to rise in the budget

Karachi:

The government has assured the IMF for sweeping financial reforms prior to the federal budget 2025-26, including increases in fuel, electricity and gas prices, officials said, a step that is expected to put further financial pressure on the public.

From July 1, the government plans to implement a number of tax measures aimed at reducing the budget deficit and tackling the country’s growing energy debt.

These measures include additional charges on oil products, a new debt service supplement on electricity bills and gastarifers adjustments. Electricity prices will be relocated annually, while gas prices are expected to be adjusted twice.
