- Google has dealt with the recent claims of a greater vulnerability in gmail
- The company denies such claims say they are “completely false”
- Certain Google Workspace Accounts were compromised in the recent Sales Drift -The Attacks
Recent reports on a major security question affecting Gmail are “completely false,” Google says.
In a blog post, the company said it wanted to insure its users that Gmail’s protection is “strong and effective.”
“Several inaccurate claims recently emerged that incorrectly stated that we were issuing a broad warning to all Gmail users on a major Gmail security question. This is completely false,” the message reads.
Workspace Compromise
While Google did not explicitly mention what claims it was addressing, some of its services had been linked to the recent sales ceiling operation.
Revenue Workflow Platform Salesloft recently suffered a cyberattack that saw threat actors breaking in through a third party and stealing sensitive information.
The company uses operations, a conversation marketing and sales platform that uses live chat, chatbots and AI, to engage visitors in real time with its own sales operations, a third-party platform that connects Operation’s AI-Chat functionality to Salesforce, synchronizes conversations, prospects and cases to CRM via the Sales Ceiling Ecosystem.
From August 8 and lasted for about ten days, opponents managed to steal OAUTH and Refresh -Tokens from Sales operation, turn to customer environments and successfully exfilter sensitive data.
Google later warned that certain workspace accounts as well as Salesforce deposits may also have been compromised during the attack. This led to some reporting that it interpreted that it was compromised, which, as Google now confirmed, is not the case.
“While it is always the case that Phishers are looking for ways to infiltrate inboxes, our protection continues to block more than 99.9% of phishing and malware trials from reaching users,” Google added.
“Security is such an important product for all businesses, all customers, all users – we take this work incredibly seriously. Our teams invest a lot, innovate constantly and clearly communicate about the risks and protections we have in place. It is important that conversation in this room is accurate and factual.”
