There was already some simmering tension between Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla when the Princess of Wales was given a special place with King Charles.
The current queen and future queen were seen at odds when Camilla seemed rude and uncomfortable to Kate during the US State Banquet in September, when Kate got all the attention.
Trouble appeared to have escalated well before that, when Princess Kate took a big step to bridge the gap between Prince Harry and the monarch after a year-long rift.
The Duke of Sussex was reunited with the King in September during his UK tour when father and son had a lovely “private tea” at Clarence House. Camilla was not present during this interaction and royal sources claim the Queen consort is furious with Kate for her peace mission.
Camilla “can’t believe Kate is continuing to stick up for Harry after everything he’s said,” an insider told Heat World. “She says it’s been going on for far too long and needs to stop. She’s told Kate straight up that she’s naive and reckless.”
Although the Prince and Princess of Wales were preoccupied with their own royal engagements at the time, sources insist Kate has continued to take a strong stance on Harry, even if William is not keen on making amends with his estranged brother.
Camilla “fully supports William’s zero-tolerance policy of no forgiveness” and wants Charles to do the same. She reportedly believes that if it wasn’t for Kate, there would be no way Harry could have found his way back into the royal fold.
Reports have claimed that Harry continues to stay in touch with his father after the meeting and that progress is being made in their relationship.
Camilla’s complaints against Harry are justified as the Duke called her an “evil stepmother” in his memoir, Spare, and went on to claim she sold information to the press to rebuild her image.
