But Gabriel injected some online conversation in the competition with a comment during his first trial season Saturday against Philadelphia Eagles.
“There are underholders and there are competitors. And I understand it completely and my job is to compete. And that’s what I’m focused on doing,” Gabriel said.
After the game, Gabriel told journalists that he was referring to the media members as entertainers.
“All of you in this room are underholders,” Gabriel said. “You have a job to do and I respect it. Right? And I’m a competitor so I have a job to do too.”

The NFL published the clip of Gabriel’s original quote without including the question that was asked. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer claimed in a post on X that the question was about how Brown’s Quarterbacks “are trying to make sure the outside noise does not infiltrate what is going on internally.”
Recordings of Gabriel’s quotes, without the question, circulated across social media with many critics who assumed Quarterback took a shot against Sanders known for his public persona with high visibility, enormous media trial and his NFL Hall of Fame Father Deion Sanders’ praise reputation.
Gabriel finished his debut on the forecast and ended 13 of 18 passes in 143 yards without touchdowns and an eavesdropping. Gabriel turned the ball over another time as he fumbled on a bad snap.

In comparison, Sanders ended with 138 yards, two touchdowns and no revenue in his Forsy -Seasonal debut August 8 against Carolina Panthers.
Gabriel is listed in front of Sanders on Browns’ depth cards. Veteran Joe Flacco is listed which starts with young veteran Kenny Pickett as the first backup. Gabriel is listed in third place, while Sanders is the fourth and last quarterback on the depth card.
