Peshawar:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur drew attention Wednesday with conflicting statements relating to the military operations-first accused its “failure” of an “eroded trust between the army and the people” and later described the security forces as “guests in the nation to be protected against injury”.

“Our forces are our guests and we will never tolerate any harm coming to them. Our ancestors taught us to protect us to protect our guests and our security forces have given their lives to the country,” he said in a video message after a tip committee meeting on Wednesday.

The Minister of the Minister called for a unified effort by the government, the military, the institutions and the public to restore peace, and emphasizes that terrorism is still the biggest obstacle to peace in the province.

“The founder of PTI (Imran Khan) and our vision was to lift the areas that have been deprived of development. For development, peace is crucial, but unfortunately no peace has been achieved here,” he added.

“The enemy countries in Pakistan will never have peace here,” Gandapur said, adding, “The Roots of Terror in Pakistan are linked to these hostile nations, and we have to fight terrorism together.”

He emphasized the importance of exposing individuals who try to create distrust between the public, the government and the security forces. “When the public is not with us, this war cannot be won. The support of the people is crucial,” he added.

Gandapur further emphasized the need to identify and eliminate facilitators of terrorists. “To light terrorists are neither in our religion nor permitted by law,” he said.

“Terrorists are hiding among the population, and when they target forces, they also put civilians at risk. We cannot allow terrorists to remain in these areas,” cm added.

The Minister of the Minister also announced that Jirgas would begin from August 2nd to engage the local communities in the effort to eliminate terrorism with the aim of avoiding military operations that may cause displacement. He assured himself that all efforts would be made to protect civilians during anti-terrorism acts.

Gandapur also dealt with concern about the province’s mineral resources and claimed: “These resources belong to the province. No one has requested control over them and we will not allow anyone to take control.”

He ended up calling on the people of KP to recognize those who spread harmful tales and emphasized the need for unity in the fight against terrorism. “We will win this war together if we are united,” he confirmed.

Previously, an emergency meeting was held on the law and the order situation under the Presidency of the Minister of Chief. The meeting attended members of the PTI parliamentary party, the chief secretary, the police inspector, the additional chief secretary and other relevant officials.

During the meeting, the law and the order situation were reviewed in the light of the Bajaur event, and the Minister of Chief was informed by relevant authorities on recent developments.

After the meeting, Chief Minister released a video statement in which he said the provincial government stands by the decisions made during the recent all parties conference on peace and security. He said the government is preparing for the implementation of these decisions.

He called the Bajaur incident a tragic event and said military operations against terrorism cause civilian losses, which negatively affects public confidence. “These forms of events erode public confidence in the army, and without public confidence, we cannot win the war against terrorism,” he said.

The minister said that the security staff who are martyrated in the war on terror are “our children too” and is as dear as civilians in the province. He said defective policies prevent proper recognition of these victims and called for a revision of such policies.

He said a timetable was issued to hold Jirgas in the merged districts. Jirgas at the local level will be held over the next ten days, followed by a Grand Jirga. Consultations with local oldest, elected representatives and stakeholders will help formulate a future course of action and narrative.

Gandapur said the recommendations of Jirgas would be presented to security officials for a possible review of current policy. He reiterated that the fight against terrorism must be based on public confidence.

He also expressed reservations about the use of “action to help civil power” and said that an assembly session has been called from August 1 to discuss this question among others and determine if it serves its intended purpose.

“Our clear message is that we stand with the people and will go to any length for them,” said the minister of chief, “added,” this is our province, our country. Incorrect decisions should not be imposed on us without consultation. “

He assured the public that Imran Khan’s party, its workers and the provincial government stand with them. “We won’t rest until their problems are resolved,” he added.

Gandapur also said that he had instructed all Deputy Commissioners not to impose a curfew or section 144 without prior approval from the home department.

A meeting with chairman of the Minister of Chief was also held in the law and the order situation in Bajaur. Compassion and sympathy were expressed to the families of civilians and security staff who were martyrated in the incident.

The main minister announced RS10 million. In compensation for the families of each martyred civil and security officer and RS2.5 million. Each for the wounded civilians and security staff.
