Gandapur hosts First Peace Jirga with tribe Elder

In a renewed push for peace and development in the tribal districts, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Saturday initiated a number of regional Jirgas after an All Parties Conference (APC), host of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur

The provincial government confirmed the development of a speech on X and announced that the first Jirga was held in Chief Minister’s House, including the oldest of the tribe and elected representatives from Khyber, Orakzai and the tribe’s subdivisions by Dara Adam Khel and Hassan Khel.

About 150 strange oldest, six provincial assembly members, three members of the National Assembly and a Senator participated. Senior officials, including chief secretary, IG police, relevant commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and CM’s information advisor, also participated.

Jirga unanimously condemned terrorism and expressed an overall attitude against all forms of militant conditions. However, the strong military operations that lead to the displacement of local populations rejected and emphasized that “peace cannot be achieved through such measures.”

The trunks also presented several key recommendations. They emphasized that “Recovering Peace is crucial to development and when stability returns, the pace of progress will accelerate.” They made it clear that no one has demanded or gained control of the province’s mineral resources or other assets, confirming the obligation to protect local resources.

Jirga advised the federal government further to arrange a delegation that includes the provincial government and the oldest of the tribe to participate in ongoing negotiations with Afghanistan. They emphasized that “all necessary support and resources should be delivered to this delegation to ensure effective dialogue.”

Plans were also described for the next regional Jirgas held in Mohmand and Bajaur districts, followed by a third Jirga covering North and South Waziristan, and a last session in the Kurram district. These consultations culminate with a magnificent Jirga chairman of the Minister of Chief.

Before the Grand Jirga is convened, influential figures from the tribal areas will be appointed to represent their society and the current action proposals that focus on restoring peace and stability in the region.

The latest developments follow last week’s APC called by the KP government, where a strong consensus was reached against any military operation in the province.

Main Minister Ali Amin Khan, who approached the collection, emphasized that the responsibility for ensuring the country’s borders lies with federal authorities and security agencies, while provincial police are fully capable of tackling terrorism and law enforcement challenges within KP.

Participants categorically rejected the long-standing distinction between “good” and “bad” Taliban and expressed firm resistance to the use of drone strikes on provincial territory.
